Ingredients
4 cups strawberries, hulled and slicedFor the Cakes:
2 C flour
1/3 C sugar
1 T baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 C butter
2/3 C half and half
1 egg, beaten
Whipped Cream
Directions
Combine sliced fruit and 1/4 cup sugar, mix well and chill.
Preheat oven to 450° F. Lightly grease an 8 inch square baking
pan.
Combine flour, sugar,salt and baking powder. Cut in butter with
two knives or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles a coarse
meal.
Mix half and half and egg and mix well. Add to flour/butter
mixture and stir just until moistened. Spread the mixture in the
bottom of the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes or until golden
brown. Cool for 5 minutes before transferring cake to a wire rack to
cool completely. |
